This category will allow you to edit options pertaining to the display of products and categories for your individual store.
Parent Products
A parent (or standalone) product is the default product type in CV3. It is added to the cart ?as is?, without having to first select options.
Click on [Catalog Options] and the following options appear:
1. Choose the way products are displayed in categories:
- Category list links to product details
- Category list contains product details
Choosing the category list links to product details allows the customer to view the list without the specific details of each product being displayed on the original screen. The customer will still be able to select a product and have the details of that product display. This setting keeps the screen more specific to the product list and allows the customer to only see the detail if selected.

Child Products (a.k.a. Sub products)
What are Child Products? Child Products are a family of products that share the main description and image belonging to their Parent Product, but the child products each have their own SKU, pricing, stock status, back order dates, custom fields, and inventory levels. Child products do NOT have their own descriptions. The parent product is generally set up as a ?dummy product?, meaning it holds the description and image but no pricing or stock information of its own, and the parent cannot be added to the cart.
Note: Child products CANNOT exist apart from their parent products (in other words, a child product cannot be assigned on its own to a category, only the parent can be assigned to the category, and it will take all the children with it).
The options are very similar to the parent product sorting options as described in detail previously.
5. Choose the way product attributes are sorted:
- Products will appear in the order you define in the admin
- Products will appear alphabetically by SKU
- Products will appear alphabetically by attribute values
Choose the way product attributes are sorted allows you to refine the listing of your products even further by choosing the specific attributes sort.
Attributes
What is an Attribute? Attributes allow you to have size/color types of choices per product. Parent products can have up to 4 attribute titles (such as size, color, length, scent). Attributes each have their own SKU, pricing, stock status, back order dates, and inventory levels. Attributes do NOT have their own descriptions. Like child products, attributes cannot exist apart from their parent product.
6. Would you like the sub-category products to be available on the parent category page?
*Note: using this option could significantly slow down your category page
7. Would you like all the category?s products to be available on the product page?
*Note: using this option could significantly slow down your product page
The above options are not recommended and could significantly slow down your page display. The information in this area is available to the customer from the parent category page.

This option allows you to choose the view of products either randomly or in most recent order. The type of view may effect search engine maximization.
12. Would you like to use a ?~? to separate the product and category in the product page URL instead of the folder structure?
This option allows you to choose how the URL will locate the document or resources of the product and category on the product page.
