In this July 29, 2013 photo released by Zoo Atlanta, twin newborn giant panda cubs lie in a blanket at Zoo Atlanta. The panda cubs are gaining weight rapidly, another encouraging sign in their development, their caretakers say. Rebecca Snyder, the zoo's curator of mammals, said in an update this week that the firstborn cub used to be smaller, but has now surpassed his brother in weight. He has more than tripled his weight in two weeks. He now weighs 361 grams, while his brother weighs 360 grams. The twin males born July 15 to Lun Lun and her partner, Yang Yang, are the first giant panda twins to be born in the U.S. since 1987. (AP Photo/Zoo Atlanta)

Scientists released a total of 415 one-year old lobsters into the North Sea later in the day as part of an effort to repopulate the lobster population around Helgoland (also called Heligoland). In the 19th century local fishermen caught up to 80,000 lobsters a year in the surrounding waters, combined with the heavy allied bombing of the island during and after World War II, as well as other environmental factors, decimated the lobster population. Duene Island was once an extension of neighboring Heligoland Island until a storm in 1721 severed the connection. Heligoland Island, in German called Helgoland, lies in the North Sea and until World War II was a popular tourist destination. During the war it became strategically vital and all overground structures were obliterated by massive Allied bombing. Today the island has a population of about 1,200 and is again a popular tourist destination known for its abundant wildlife. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images)
