Bay Area architecture design firm Hayashida Architects celebrated their 32nd anniversary on July 6, 2011. Founded by Sady Hayashida, a.I.a. in 1979, the firm has grown over the years to a group of six experienced architects who share a commitment to nurturing client relationships and providing complete single-source architectural services.

Highlights of the firm?s three-decade existence include retail locations such as BevMo, Pet Food Express, Ghirardelli Chocolates, and Orchard Supply Hardware; restaurant design for Brennan?s and Mirtille; headquarters for numerous county-run mosquito abatement districts; historic preservation of San Francisco?s noted Queen Anne-style Tusker building; the Westgate Mall in San Jose; and the Jodo Shinshu Center in Berkeley, which serves as the headquarters of the Buddhist Churches of America.

In 1979, Sady Hayashida resigned from his position as Assistant Director of Architecture for Victoria Station Restaurants and formed his own company, Sady Hayashida Architects. over the years, the company grew to a group of six architects and supportive staff, nearly half of whom have stayed with Hayashida Architects for over ten years. The company moved as it grew, inhabiting a Victorian building in Berkeley in 1985 and moving to its present location in Emeryville in December, 1996.

Hayashida Architects has been honored for its outstanding work numerous times. The firm received an ?Outstanding Merit? award from the Association for Retail Environments for its design for Orchard Supply Hardware. Hayashida Architects received an ?Award of Excellence? from Berkeley Design Advocate for the Jodo Shinshu Center. The firm was also honored at the Paragon Awards by Custom Home.

Over the years, Hayashida Architects and its projects have been featured in numerous publications and media outlets including Interiors & Sources, East Bay Business Times, San Francisco Business Times, SF Examiner Magazine, Design/Build, Oakland Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle and ABC-TV.

Hayashida Architects credits its longevity to its commitment to building strong relationships. ?Inspiration may spark design, but community makes the process work,? they stated. ?This is what we believe. this is who we are.?
