Qayyum Stadium Peshawar would be made squash complex of ...

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports, Syed Aqil Shah has said that the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex established in 1992 in Qayyum Stadium Peshawar would be made squash complex of international standard and Rs. 2.2 million would be spent on its repair and renovation including provision of basic necessities and this task would be completed in a period of six months.This he said on the eve of inauguration of the renovation and repair work of Qamar Zaman Squash Complex at Qayyum Stadium Peshawar on Saturday. On this occasion, beside concerned officials, the Director General Sports, Engr. Khan Zeb also accompanied the provincial minister. Syed Aqil Shah inspected various sections of the mentioned squash complex and directed the concerned officials for provision of all necessary facilities including a complete Commentary Box.He added that a standard Squash Academy would be established there and coaches would be appointed for training of the children adding that priority would be given to the junior players during the training so that they could enlighten the name of the province in future.He said that uder-14 squash clinic on the pattern of Squash Clinic held at Hasham Khan Squash Complex would be arranged by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association at Qamar Zaman Squash Complex in February and March next and the legends like Qamar Zaman, Jan Sher Khan and Mohibullah would be requested to give coaching to the squash related children of the province. He also directed the concerned contractor for completing the repair and renovation work of Qamar Zaman Squash Complex within the stipulated period of six months. Later on, he also inspected the ongoing work on a new basketball court in Qayyum Stadium Peshawar which would be completed within two months with an estimated cost of Rs. 1.5 million. He also directed to keep close the cricket academy of Qayyum Stadium for beautification and renovation, levelling and grass cutting from September 16 to October 15, 2011.Syed Aqil Shah also directed for handing over all responsibilities for complete beautification and renovation and better look after of Qayyum Stadium Peshawar to Mir Bashar, Assistant Director Sports Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was also assigned to ensure facilities of sports in Qayyum Stadium including gymnasium, swimming pool, cricket academy, boxing ring, basketball court, and hockey grounds.
