New AMA chief: No chaos with court's health ruling

CHICAGO (AP) ? The incoming president of the American Medical Association says not to expect chaos if the U.S. Supreme Court rejects all or part of the sweeping federal health care law.

Dr. Jeremy Lazarus takes over as AMA president later this month. He says he's not making any predictions on a high court decision, which also is expected this month.

Lazarus wants the court to uphold President Barack Obama's health overhaul. But if it doesn't, Lazarus told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he doesn't envision doctors throwing up their hands or patients not getting medical care.

Still, he says trying to get more people insured and how that influences costs will be big challenges. But Lazarus thinks it can be worked out without great upheaval.
