Military helicopter called after boat runs aground off Newfoundland

NEW CHELSEA, NEWFOUNDLAND ? A Cormorant helicopter was called to eastern Newfoundland on Sunday after a ship ran aground.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax says the 12-metre pleasure craft started taking on water Sunday afternoon near New Chelsea after it hit some rocks in Trinity Bay.

Officials say six people were evacuated on a lifeboat and safely taken to shore.

No one was injured.
