Civil Services Exam by UPSC - Education

Civil Services offers many jobs, one of them is Indian Administrative Service (IAS). It is a job which helps you to work from the *inside* and become a government servant. Apart, from a healthy salary, the incentives which you get are hard to resist. You get free transportation facility and a government quarter to live in. There are other special privileges that come along with an IAS post.
IAS is very popular amongst the youth due to its lucrative nature and the stature and power the post attaches to itself. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is a commission which prepares the syllabus for all the civil services exams including the IAS and also conduct exams and interviews.

It deals with managing the bureaucracy of India. However, clearing the exam is a tough job. IAS involves two exams and one interview round.

IAS prelims exam is followed by IAS mains which finally leads to the interview round. Thus, the candidates who clear the interview round are recruited for a training session. After the training session is successfully completed, they are strategically positioned in various posts which is based on the scores in the merit list.

It is not impossible to clear the IAS exams; there have been many toppers who have proved themselves worthy of this title. The only key to reach the apex of success is to work hard. The syllabus is vast and covers a lot of topics; therefore it is very essential to start preparing months or an year before the exam. The earlier you start, the better it is for you. You should practice very hard. If you are well- versed with the syllabus but you lack proper practice, you will not be able to clear the exam.

Also, practicing would improve your accuracy to answer the questions. There are numerous model question papers available in bookstores or the internet. These question papers give you a vivid picture of the kind of questions asked; most frequently asked questions, marking scheme, important subjects etc.

Union Public Service Commission has been trusted the responsibility to recruit deserving and capable individuals for Indian Administrative Service, a high profile job offered by Civil Service of India. Union Public Service Commission conducts exams and interviews for all the recruitments in civil services of India. These recruitments usually follow a similar pattern. There is a prelim exam, a mains exam and finally followed by an interview. In 2011, the IAS prelims have been held and the IAS mains exam will be conducted in another month; the chosen candidates would give an interview session and then trained.
